The mob asked for Barabbas. They asked for him, corrupt and vile, to be freed. They wanted to spare his life and instead send our blameless Savior to die a gruesome death.
We live in a Barabbas culture. The world chooses Barabbas over Jesus all day, every day.
Barabbas is in the TikTok videos and song lyrics. The Tweets and the television. He's influencing and desensitizing our children to his wicked ways. Musicians and celebrities continuously cry out to save Barabbas but to, "Crucify Him!" They call what is good evil and what is evil good.
And these little eyes and ears are taking it all in.
As Christians, we are ridiculed for our beliefs. We're goody-goodies. Pearl clutchers. Sticks in the mud. Out of touch. We’re intolerant and judgmental. We're too serious. Too uptight.
And these little eyes and ears take that in, as well. They may say, “It’s not that serious, Mama.”
But it is.
Despite what the world and even our kids might think, we are wise. We know we fight the unseen. We know an enemy seeks to kill, steal and destroy. We know he wants our children. He wants to harden their hearts and make them complacent. He wants them to be craftily and subtly blinded and fall into his trap.
Keep pouring God’s beautiful truth and light into your children’s hearts and minds. Pray for it to take root. Pray for their eyes and ears to have wisdom and discernment.
So that they will be set apart from the mob that continuously calls for Barabbas to be freed.
